Observations and such
On Taiwan: Gosh. There are a lot of asians. And scooters. And asians riding scooters crazily. Also, the traffic lights stay on go/stop for a long time (70 seconds!). Air quality is pretty dodgy, as expected. Local fruits, the likes of which none of us have ever seen, are very tasty. Taipei subways are very nice. Din Tai Fung’s xiao long bao are yummy. People are sort of stylish; sort of not. Photos to come!
On EVA Airlines: Flight on Air Canada operated by EVA Airlines exceeded all expectations. They even provided slippers and toothpaste and toothbrushes for us lowly passengers in the economy cabin (shock). Not to mention, the renovated planes offer individual entertainment systems. One could opt to play 12 hours of Bejewelled or Hearts or do as mother did and watch four Oscar-winning movies back-to-back. I watched “No Country…” and fell asleep in my empty row. That dude is creepy. Essentially this means that pretty much it’s only the North American airlines that really suck (with the exception of Cuba Air).
